In September 2015 an amazing group of people with incredible passion, experience and hearts for Missions came together to form a new Missions Committee and got right to work. November became a “Missions Awareness month” where each week foyer displays and bulletin inserts were utilized to highlight the goals of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the missionaries we support and the committee itself.

As well, Jeremy and Lori undertook the Christmas Shoebox operation for Samaritanʼs Purse and collected over 100 boxes to send overseas. In December, 2015, the Missions Committee actively sought donations to put together Christmas Hampers and Devon, Sharon and Daniel delivered food and cash to five families within the Timbers Church family.

In January 2016, we implemented Tooney Sundays. With the goal of bringing Missions to the forefront, Tooney Sunday occurs on the second Sunday of each month and brings with it a Missions focus and an opportunity for people to contribute their spare change.

To date, we have also hosted several guest missionaries and are also actively involved and planning for two upcoming short term missions trips. As well, we are in the process of arranging quality training to anyone planning to get involved in a short term missions.

On May 8th, we hosted a Motherʼs Day Bake Sale and we hope to do more fundraising activities during the year. October 2016 will be our official Missions Month as we will have International Workers, David and Patti Ens, from Cambodia coming to share with us.

The Committee meets the second Sunday of each month (Tooney Sundays!) at 1:00pm at The Hub, and new members are always welcome.
