Superkids:
SuperKIDS is the exciting, fast-paced children’s ministry at Timbers Community Church.
Our goal is to teach children about God’s character in a way that connects with them. We
want to see kids learn to love God and grow in His Kingdom!
WHAT TO EXPECT ON SUNDAY MORNING
5-10+ Year Olds (Elementary Ages – Kindergarten up to Grade 6)
SuperKIDS meet in their very own space during the “adult” service – the KidsCAVE.
Our SuperKIDS and their leaders (who are just overgrown kids) get together in a large group for worship, stories or dramas and a cool demonstration or game and then break off into small groups where they can connect with other kids their age and talk about kid stuff, God stuff, life stuff… and Kingdom stuff! There’s no lackluster lessons here! No monotone storytelling (unless it’s for the humorous effect)! No boredom allowed!
This is SuperKIDS; a space to have fun, learn and explore like a kid. Did I mention science? Yep. Awesome worship times? Totally. Hilarious skits and sketches? Cool videos and cartoons? Kid participation? Absolutely! WARNING: Previous SuperKIDS experiences have left kids with slime in their hair, blue dye on their faces and/or stuck in giggle-fests that just won’t stop.
Remember to come early for the “adult” service to register your 5-10 year olds in the
SuperKIDS CAVE… When you come, ask a greeter to show you how to get down to the
CAVE (it’s kinda like the Batcave… it’s supposed to be complicated).
2-4 Year Olds (Preschoolers)
Preschoolers stay in the main “adult” service with you during the music and worship. We love preschoolers and their energy and have a special space for them at the front
where they can dance and sing and wave sparkly-flags during the music (you might want to sit with them, ’cause preschoolers don’t always understand/don’t care about
things like “share” and “don’t wave that flag in front of your mom’s face, she can’t see”). After music (and the preschooler mosh-pit time), we dismiss the little ones to their classroom where our AWESOME Preschool Leaders teach them all about how much God loves them and how they can show love to others (this is where we work on
things like “sharing” and “don’t gang up on the youth helper and jump on him until he cries.” Just kidding… we’ve never had a teacher cry… yet). Our SuperKIDS Preschool leaders help kids learn these things through play, music and dance, crafts and through stories with fun and cute visuals. We let the kids learn at their own pace and allow them to choose which play-stations they would like to sit at. We encourage them to have fun while interacting with one another and the theme for that day. Our leaders are awesome at guiding little ones in fun and engaging play that helps them to gain hands-on experience with how God’s word works in their lives.
Remember to come a few minutes early to register your little at the Preschool
Registration Table before the service starts. When you come, ask a greeter where to
register and they will point you in the right direction.
0-2 Year Olds (Nursery)
Babies! BABIES!!! Sorry… we got excited. At
Timbers we think babies are really, really awesome. Because of that, we have a great nursery space set up just for your baby. But, this isn’t just a play space, it’s also a space where we teach babies how much God loves them by caring for them and engaging them on their level. Our Nursery Leaders are here to take care of your baby so you can enjoy the service, but they’re also here to show your little one how much God loves them.
Our nursery is drop in, so you can bring your baby to us and sign him or her in at any
time during the service. If this is your first time at Timbers, you will need to fill out a
registration form. While we don’t mind if your baby cries a little bit, we don’t like to see
little ones really upset… and as is our policy; we will assign you a number (and you’ll get this ridiculously large card to carry around with the number on it so you don’t forget to pick up your baby after the service) so we can call you back to the nursery if we need. If you see the number on your card pop up on the screen during the service, we’d like you to
come and attend your baby. I mean, you don’t have to, but we’d really, really, really, like
you to.
HOW DO I KNOW MY KIDS ARE SAFE?
You are probably wondering “How do I know my children are being properly taken care
of when they leave me for their programs? Are they safe?” All our SuperKIDS workers
have been carefully and thoroughly screened through our Plan to Protect program
approved and created by abuse prevention group Winning Kids Inc . This means that each worker, whether paid or volunteer, has completed a Criminal Records Check and has gone through an extensive screening process and training. We realize that we have a moral and spiritual responsibility to protect your child and we work to the best of our ability to fulfill that obligation. If you have any further questions about our Plan to Protect program, please give us a call at the Timbers Community Church Office.
